Moments for Mums: Created to Be Creative – Part 2Exemplo
A few years ago in Germany, I visited a particularly ornate church. The building was grand, the carvings intricate, the colours vibrant, and the gold overlay extravagant. I expected to be horrified at this ‘waste’ of resources. Instead, I was filled with awe for God.
I discovered that not only is God’s existence evident in creation, he is also seen in the creativity of his people.
This church displayed Biblical scenes in painting and sculpture: timberwork was beautifully carved; stained-glass windows were a masterpiece of beauty and narrative. However, even though I acknowledged the skill of the artisans, the awe I felt was for the majesty of God and the generous hand of his provision. Not only does God gift people with imagination and skill, he also gives us wonderful resources to work with.
As mums, we can often feel too busy to relax creatively, but our creativity can bring joy to us and glory to God.
Question
What are your creative skills? Are you putting them on hold? How can you gradually bring them into your busy mum-life?
Prayer
Thank you, Father, for filling my life with opportunities for creativity and joy. Please help me to seek them out, and to glorify you in all that I do. Amen.
