According to His Riches in Glory: Learning to See God's Presence on DisplayExemplo
One of the great blessings that we are given as followers of Jesus is to experience the glory of God on this side of Heaven. Heaven has its own unmatched glory, but there are moments when we may experience a glimpse of glory here on Earth.
As I sat with God, reading and meditating on Philippians 4:19, He began to unfold the deeper revelation hidden in this verse. He shared with me a definition of glory that was unique to any I had yet to hear. Glory is God’s presence on display.
And His glory is revealed through us and to us by the richness of His goodness and character.
So, what are His riches? Believe it or not, they are the things that we often experience but do not acknowledge as an act of His divine will within our lives. They are things that I have been guilty of taking for granted too often. Here are a few of them:
- Life
- Healing
- Strength
- Provision
- Supply
- Comfort
- Love
- Peace
- Assurance
- Counsel
- Endurance
- Wisdom
- Joy
- Favor
- Forgiveness
- Mercy
Each of these blessings from God are aspects of His riches. Once we experience them, we transition from sorrow to delight in Him. When we are open to His riches rather than our own, we become a conduit of His glory. This is why He provides according to His riches, not ours. We are to bring Him glory, not ourselves. And when such riches are displayed through us, that is exactly what happens.
So, the next time you—like me—begin to tell God what you need, prepare for Him to give it to you in abundance according to His wonderful riches in glory through Christ Jesus.
