Year of the Bible: Part Six of Twelve Exemplo
Serve God and Others
Ezra and Nehemiah were co-laborers in their time, and both sought to serve God's purposes and bring the exiles back to their promised land. Nehemiah set out to rally the people to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
Nehemiah didn't wait for God to tell him what to do about the plight of the people in Jerusalem, but he did respond to the needs he became aware of and set out to glorify God and settle the people in their homeland. The best leadership style is the one required by the circumstance at hand.
God mobilized Nehemiah in his area of gifting to meet the need of the hour, and the results were astounding! They rebuilt the wall in 52 days! Like Nehemiah, God-fearing leaders serve others and help them enter their place of highest service for God.
Question: What is your natural response when you see a need for which you have a solution? Do you recognize that you may be the answer to someone else's prayer today?
Prayer: Jesus was constantly aware of the needs that surrounded Him, even to the point that He noticed someone touching Him to receive healing in the middle of a crowd! Take a step of faith and ask God to increase your awareness of how He wants to deploy your strengths today. Be ready to do even a simple or seemingly mundane thing for His glory.
