Jesus: Higher Than AllExemplo
Jesus is the Prince of Peace
“… and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of His cross.” (Colossians 1:20)
When Adam and Eve first sinned, this had enormous consequences for them and their descendants (so, for all humans). But sin also impacts “all things, whether on earth or in heaven”. We can see this tragedy unfolding all around us: animals are killed by predators or starve to death, people make war, species become extinct, forests burn down, and floods destroy ecosystems and economies. All this suffering and death was not part of God’s original creation. It is caused by sin. As Romans 8:20 tells us, “the creation was subjected to futility” and is groaning. Moreover, the Bible tells us that a battle is going on in the spiritual realm since many angels joined Satan in his rebellion and declared war on God. The harmony of the original creation is lost.
But Jesus has come to reconcile all things to God and to make peace! He will restore this original harmony so that humans can live in God’s presence again and creation “will be set free from its bondage to corruption”. Satan’s power has been broken by Jesus’ sacrifice at the cross, and in the end, he will be destroyed completely.
Jesus truly is the Prince of Peace!
