"God will repay each person according to what they have done." (Romans 2:6)

This Scripture is just one verse of Romans 2, but to really understand what is meant, read a broader section; Romans 2:1-11, and consider reading other translations to get a broader understanding of what the text is teaching.

One day God will judge all people and He will give to each person according to what he or she has done. We will all reap what we have sown. Maybe you say: ‘Hey, wait a minute, we can never earn our salvation by doing good works. Jesus died for our sins on the Cross and rose from the death… right?!’

Yes, that’s true! But this verse is not about our salvation. When you surrendered your life to Jesus, when you chose Him, you received a wonderful free gift that He will never take away from you. You come to God the way you are, but you know what? He loves you too much to leave you that way! God wants us to be more like His Son.

When you choose to serve God, you will notice changes in the way you think; you start making different choices. You are so happy that Jesus gave you His grace, you want to share Him with other people. The Holy Spirit will slowly transform your heart to be more like Him, bearing His characteristics, a step at a time. (Galatians 5:22-25)

Life will not always be easy, maybe you will go through hard times now and then, but you will never be alone. Jesus promised to be with you, ALWAYS!!! His Spirit will counsel you, comfort you and lead you. Persevere in doing good! And when the day comes that God will judge all people, He will say to you: ‘Well done my child. You have been faithful in small things; I will put you in charge of greater things. Come let’s celebrate the feast of the Lord.’ What a glorious day that will be!
