At the Well: a Four-Day Devotional for Deep Encounters With Christ Marilyn JohnsonExemplo
Conversations with Jesus
Focus Scripture: “Jesus answered her, ‘If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water” (John 4:10).
A part of Jesus’s ministry on earth was seeking out those who needed a life change. From what we see recorded in Scripture, the conversations He had with those He met with were not necessarily lengthy, but the words of life He spoke in these encounters were packed with powerful truths that always changed or challenged the listener.
Conversations with Jesus are always incredibly insightful as He seeks to show us “great and unsearchable things we do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3). When we open ourselves to these conversations, He’ll impart precise and timely knowledge that will instantly change how we see God and ourselves.
When Jesus conversed with the Samaritan woman, He broke through cultural norms and gender traditions to reach her, showing that no barrier can ever stop us from encountering Him. All lives, no matter the circumstances, are important to God.
Jesus shared heavenly insight with the Samaritan woman: to make known the living water that was available to her. These waters would remedy and satisfy the deeper soul thirst she so desperately desired, desperation proved by the cycle of failed relationships playing out in her life with no hope of an end.
The conversation with Jesus widened her perspective on who God could be to her in her circumstances and pointed to her only source of hope.
God knows everything there is to know about you, and through His lens of truth and loving concern, He invites you into a conversation with Him. Will you let God open your eyes to the provision and solutions He has for you? He has always been exactly what you need.
If you long for a conversation with Jesus that leads to an encounter with His power, revelation, and truth, pray with me.
Prayer: Lord, I open my eyes, ears, and heart to you. Speak with me in the way you see fit so I can catch a glimpse of what Your heart desires to say to me today.
