Here I Am, Lord: Devotions from Time of GraceExemplo
My Savior Is Alive
Father, sometimes it looks as though Satan really has won after all. Christians are persecuted, children are abused, our streets aren’t safe, good people lose their jobs, and families break up. Governments collapse; wars fester and consume staggering amounts of blood and treasure. Death is steadily stealing my friends and loved ones one at a time.
But Easter happened. The mighty prince of hell himself cannot change history. Your Son lived a holy life and lets me claim it as mine. Your Son died a horrible death and experienced hell for me so I won’t have to. Your Son rose from his grave, changing everything, guaranteeing my forgiveness and my own immortality.
His words become my words: “My heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure, because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay. You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand” (Psalm 16:9-11 and Acts 2:25-28).
I can overcome every hardship when I know that I win in the end no matter what. The grave could not contain my Savior. He is the first installment for the grand Easter yet to come. He’s alive and will never die. I won’t either.

God knows that our tongues and brains sometimes lack the words to say, and so he provided the beautiful book of Psalms in his Word to provide vocabulary for us to bring our thoughts and concerns to him. These devotions, one for each day of the month, use psalms to help you voice your needs and hurts and joys to the Lord.
