Joy For Today: 14 Joy-Filled Days With God Exemplo
"Be a Peacemaker"
When he prophesied the coming of the Messiah, the prophet Zechariah said that the Child who was to be born would rise like the morning sun to bring light to those who lived in darkness and in the shadow of death, and would guide our footsteps on the path of peace (see Luke 1:79). Thirty-three years after this prophecy, when Jesus was returning to His Father, He promised His disciples that He would leave His peace behind for them: “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27).
People who live with the peace of Jesus in their hearts are happy people because they are not characterized by the unrest and strife of the world; they also manage to live without fear. But Jesus asks more of you than to simply be a recipient of His peace. It is His will for you to be a peacemaker, someone who will bring about peace in the lives of others. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God,” He promises in His Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5:9).
Therefore, be finely tuned in to the state of mind of the people around you and be prepared to make peace if quarrels arise, because peacemakers are happy people!
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You that I can have Your peace and tranquility in my life. Make me a peacemaker so that I too will be able to settle the differences amongst other people. Amen.
