Parasha Minute: Genesis / Breisheet

"Grace That Never Leaves"

During Yesha‘yahu’s (Isaiah’s) lifetime, the nation of Y’srael (Israel) was in captivity under Babylon. Israel had lost its way and, having forgotten how to follow the God of Abraham, were swept under powerful political forces and rising tides of idolatrous practices. How were they to survive? How were they to remain a people separated to God while immersed in cultures not their own? The writings of Isaiah, considered the most important prophet of all, offered encouragement and comfort. Isaiah’s prophesies mention that ancient flood, and remind a desperate people of God’s loving-kindness. More importantly, the messages prophesy of a coming Redeemer sent to uphold and embody God’s covenant of peace: Yeshua the Messiah. Reflection / Prayer: Adonai, challenging circumstances can distract us from Your promises, making it hard to live a life of faith. During these times, show us Your compassion and make good Your promise to replace our anxiety with peace.
