[Unseen Battle] the Battle Is RealExemplo
Live Surrendered to God
Do you have a healthy fear of something creepier than a snake or a spider? The Bible warns us in Ephesians 6:12 that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against spiritual hosts. How many hosts are there? When Jesus cast demons out of a man in Mark 5:9, they called themselves Legion because they said they were many. How many is a legion? In the Roman empire, a legion was a unit of 3,000 to 6,000 soldiers. Now, it just means a multitude, a large force.
In Revelation 12:3–4, John describes the dragon, which seems to represent the devil. He says the dragon’s tail swept down one-third of the stars of heaven, causing them to fall to the earth. Is it possible that this might represent one-third of the angels rebelling against God, following Satan, and becoming demons? That would be hosts, or legions if you will.
The battle is real. But take heart; there are twice as many good angels as fallen ones. Hebrews 1:14 calls them spirits sent forth to minister to those who will inherit salvation. So, God can send two-thirds of all angels out to minister to you at any time. Be aware of the struggle, but take heart. Be vigilant, but take heart. Don’t be afraid because of this unseen battle. Your enemy would love nothing more than to paralyze you with fear. He wants to keep you from fulfilling your God-created purpose. But you don’t need to be afraid because you belong to God. You have already won a victory over your enemy because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit in the world. (1 John 4:4)
Romans 8:11 reminds us that the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in us. We have no reason to be afraid. We have every reason to speak the name of Jesus and walk in authority. Two-thirds of the angelic hosts are constantly dispatched to minister to us and fight on our behalf.
1 Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” Be ready at every moment. Stand firm because your adversary, your opponent, your accuser, your enemy, the evil one, the jealous hater of your soul, the devil prowls around like a roaring lion. All he can do is manipulate and mimic. He is not the roaring lion; he wants to terrify like a roaring lion. But make no mistake. He’s looking for someone to devour. So, we must stay alert and surrender to God’s spirit.
Heavenly Father, I surrender my life to Your Holy Spirit. Amen.

We are involved in an unseen battle, whether we believe it or not. We have a real enemy who hates us. We have an opponent committed to stealing from us, killing us, and destroying us. His language is fear, isolation, and accusation. His currency is condemnation. We must watch out for the devil’s schemes because Scripture says our struggle is not against flesh and blood.
