"To Know Him: Love Well"

Think about someone in your life that really loves you or cares about you. It could be a parent, a sibling, your best friend, a coach, or your small group leader. Now think about why it is that he or she has come to care about you or to love you. Did you do something to earn that love? Now the most important questions: Who do you love? How do you show love?

I’m not talking about a burning, romantic, Hollywood-style, hot-pink kind of love. I’m talking about a brotherly kind of love, an “I’ve got your back” kind of love, a type of love that gives freely and doesn’t expect much in return.

Let’s face it. The world we live in is not filled with expressions of love. It is quite the opposite. As believers—and nonbelievers for that matter—we are instructed by our heavenly Father to love people and to love them well. In 1 John 4, we discover that not only does God want us to love people, but the source of love is God himself. Every single person, because we are all created in the image of God, has this capacity to love other people.

To know God is to know and express love, and the best way to show other people who God is to love them. What would our world look like if people just loved a little better?

So, who are you loving well right now? As you pursue a relationship with your heavenly Father, are you showing love to the people around you?

The 20/20 Experience

The lens through which we see the world is crucial. The way we see the world often determines our satisfaction in life. The same could be said of our faith. The way we see faith, Jesus, and our pursuit of Him shapes our satisfaction in life. Join us as we spend seven days looking at the lenses of our lives, knowing Jesus, and the goal we seek as Christians.
