Stay Out of the Mud
Imagine you and your friends were playing a muddy football game. It’s raining, the field is wet, and mud is flying everywhere. When you get home that night, you’re sore, exhausted, cold, and disgusting! After a long, hot shower, you feel better. How gross would it feel to step out of the shower and put your gross, dirty clothes back on? You don’t even want to touch them until they’ve been washed!
The Bible reminds us that when we keep sinning, it's exactly like putting muddy, soiled clothes back on when we get out of the shower. Jesus has set us free from sin, including the things we have been addicted to. When we choose our old habits, we keep putting on those old disgusting clothes. Jesus wants us to remember that we are called to a new life. The old is gone, and the new is here. Maybe you’re starting to forget how good it feels not to have those gross things on us anymore. Today, God is reminding you that no matter how many times you have returned to your past mistakes, he is waiting to help you clean up and get things in order once again.
Prayer: Jesus, please help me to have the strength not to go back to the old sins that used to be a part of me. Help me to remember the freedom I have from my old ways and how good it feels to live a new life with you.

There is no such thing as a casual addiction. Alcohol, social media, and even video games can pull us in, and we often wind up handcuffing ourselves to the habits we just can't kick. Jesus offers us the keys to unlock our handcuffs and experience joy and freedom!
