[Wisdom for Kids] Wisdom Has Rewards!Exemplo
Understanding, the Insightful Guardian
A good friend looks out for you because they want what is best for you. Understanding is that kind of friend. God gave you parents and grandparents to keep you safe until you can make your own decisions. As you start reading God’s Word for yourself, you will also begin to develop a godly understanding.
Your family is sitting with you doing this devotional because God has given them the understanding to train you well. Did you know that you have an enemy? Well, as children of God, we all do. He is called the devil, and he comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But we don’t have to fear him. No! Jesus came to give us life so we may live in His peace, love, and joy—never fear.
Ultimately, this enemy wants to do anything he can to keep you away from God. He knows that if you get close to God, you will live a life that pleases Him and helps others find God. The good news is that when Jesus died for us and came back to life, He defeated the enemy once and for all. When you walk with God, that enemy has no real power over you.
One great tool you can use when you are tempted to follow the wrong path is Scripture memory. Even as an adult, the Scriptures I memorized as a child often pop into my mind at the most challenging moments—when I feel discouraged or tempted. In the gospels, we can also see how Jesus used His understanding of Scripture to defeat the devil when He was tempted.
(Parents/adults–Talk to your children about what it means to have victory over our enemy through our Lord Jesus Christ. Share with them how we can defeat the enemy’s attacks by trusting in Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins through grace and keeping God’s Word in our hearts.)
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I understand that You are more powerful than any enemy that might come against me. Thank You for sending Jesus to defeat the devil and for giving me the tools I need in Your Word. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
