Who Am I Really? A Journey to Discover Your True IdentityExemplo
According to the King, you are WONDERFULLY MADE.
- For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. ~Psalm 139:13-14
- My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. ~Psalm 139:15
God created each one of us uniquely—with careful precision and purpose. Before our mothers were even aware of our existence, God knew every detail of who we would be inside and out. I love how Psalm 139 uses the analogy of God knitting us together.
When I was a little girl, I used to love to watch my grandmother knit. I was amazed at the seemingly effortless way her hands maneuvered the yarn and needles. To my youthful eyes it was magic. In a matter of minutes, an intricate pattern took shape. By the time my grandma completed one of her works of art, her hands had literally touched every fiber and thread of yarn.
The image David paints of God knitting us together in our mother’s womb reveals the careful attention God pays to each and every one of His magnificent creations. Much thought and attention to detail goes into His handiwork. The human body is a magnificently complex piece of machinery. Biologists are amazed at the complexity of such marvels as DNA, the very blueprint for life, which carries enough information in each cell to fill one thousand books!
Like an intricately designed afghan blanket, we are beautiful works of art, priceless in God’s eyes. We are uniquely designed with God’s plan and purpose in mind. And because God likes variety, we come in all different shapes, colors, and sizes. The next time we are tempted to put ourselves down, we need to remember that we were made in the image of God and that He created us to fulfill a special plan and purpose here on earth.
It’s time to embrace our unique differences and brilliantly reflect the image of our awesome Designer.
