People of Light, People of Darkness: The Last Apostle | 1 John 2:18-27Exemplo

People of Light, People of Darkness: The Last Apostle | 1 John 2:18-27

Dia 4 de 5

John says people of darkness and death hold the following beliefs: They deny that Jesus is God’s son (1 John 2:23). They deny that he’s come in the flesh (1 John 4:2; 2 John 7). They deny that Jesus is the Christ (1 John 2:22). But John says that people of light and life know that Jesus is the Christ (1 John 5:1), that he has come in the flesh (1 John 4:2; 5:6), and that he is God’s son (1 John 1:3, 7; 2:23; 3:23; 3:8; 4:9-15; 5:11).

From these, a composite image starts to emerge. Sometimes Christians can deviate from what the apostles taught about Christ, and what Jesus said about himself. They affirm the idea of Christ, but doubt whether God took on flesh and blood and whether the man Jesus was indeed the incarnation of God. John wants you to root your faith in who Jesus says he is.
