Pursuing the Gift of ProphecyExemplo
Day 6 - Speak Life
In Ezekiel chapter 37, the prophet Ezekiel has a powerful encounter with the Lord. This is a prophetic picture of what God desires to release through us to the people around us that are covered in “deep darkness.” (Isaiah 60:2)
In this encounter, God takes Ezekiel and sets him down in a valley of dry bones. The Lord then asks the prophet Ezekiel, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord God, You know.” (verse 3 - NKJV)
The prophet's heart posture was to wait and speak what the Lord told him to speak. God then responds emphatically and tells Ezekiel to speak life over the valley of dry bones.
Ezekiel 37:4 Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!5 Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. 6 I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.” ’ ”7 So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 Indeed, as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but there was no breath in them. (NKJV)
God has also instructed us to speak life to the world around us, as we’ve already gone over. Ezekiel 37:10 So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army. (NKJV) Let's not forget that the Spirit of our resurrected Lord lives in us. Romans 8:11 “The Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead. If the same Holy Spirit lives in you, He will give life to your bodies in the same way.” (NLV)
We have the Spirit of the Life (Romans 8:2) in us, and as “Christ in us, the hope of glory,” (Colossians 1:27) lives within us, we have the power to speak life into the world around us.
Prayer
Lord, speak your life-giving words through me so that your “exceedingly great army” can rise up and do your work on this earth.
