You Were Made for Healing by the One Who Made You For Good Works
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. —Ephesians 2:1–5
This lays out a crucial point: Christ died for us even while we were dead in our transgressions. He saw the potential possible, but He know He would have to do all the work. We were helpless. We were goners. We were dead.
But God… He rescued us from ourselves. We literally had nothing to do with it. We were goners - He choose YOU! If you know God. It’s not because of anything you did. You did not choose Him. He chose you before the creation of the Earth.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. —Ephesians 2:10
This section of Scriptures we have been discussing is so powerful if you struggle with identity. God’s love, grace, and mercy are in you. These are critical verses for you.
For you are His workmanship. Pause. Think through this. You were made by God. Mind blown! But it goes on: God's word says He created us to do good work... work that He prepared beforehand.
God has a very specific plan and purpose for you through Christ. If you ever feel that your life doesn’t matter, you’re disagreeing with God. He made you, in His image, and laid out good work for you. Get after it! Do you believe this about yourself? Do you believe this about God?
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God— even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved. —1 Corinthians 10:31–33
