Screens & SoulsExemplo
Thank God for technology
Have you ever pictured the reformer Martin Luther as the Elon Musk of ancient Germany, a man on the leading edge of technology? Around A.D. 1516, Luther was lecturing on the book of Romans when he read, “For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last” (Romans 1:17). Righteousness. That’s how you get right with God. Luther noticed that the righteousness of God was “in the gospel,” and the good news about Jesus, was “by faith from first to last.” The whole thing was about trusting in Jesus, not in doing enough good things for Jesus.
Luther had to tell the world! So guess what he used? The internet of his day! Not long before Luther’s birth, a fellow German had invented/brought the printing press to Europe, speeding up the publishing process exponentially. Martin Luther published. By 1519, he was the most published author in all of Europe, and his discovery about righteousness, about how you can only get right with God as his gift through faith in his Son, Jesus, spread like wildfire.
That fire is still spreading. In any given month, Time of Grace alone will connect real souls to a real Savior millions of times each month. Millions! And every soul has a story, just like yours. So join me in thanking God for screens!
