Jesus Loves You, Nerd

Dia 3 de 3

// Day 3
Excuse Me... Your Hearts Are Beeping

“I survived because the fire inside burned brighter than the fire around me.”
+ Joshua Graham, Fallout New Vegas

Each day, as part of this bible reading plan, we've drawn inspiration from the world of video games and nerd culture. These experiences, whether read, watched, or played, can help bridge the gap between practical concepts and the passions that brought you here. They offer insights that help us process and navigate our tangible lives, teaching us how to grieve, forgive, listen, and find our voice in various circumstances.

One experience that resonates with almost everyone is the feeling of exhaustion. We've all been there—so utterly tired that even choosing hot dog toppings could push us into a state of mild frenzy. It's as if our entire selves have been poured out, leaving us like an empty pot waiting for Link to smash.

The truth is, feeling exhausted is a natural part of life. It doesn't matter if you're a person of faith or not; you'll find yourself dozing off mid-conversation or losing your temper because you forgot the word "spoon."

Exhaustion can lead to critical missteps, making us say or do things we'd never consider when fully charged. But as Christians, we have an advantage—the One we serve specializes in moments of low HP (health points). He is the ultimate Sherpa, always ready to pick us up when we fall, lead us out of the darkest dungeons, and raise our morale by the campfire when we can't continue our adventure called life.

He is the source of our strength and breathes life into our endeavors when we struggle to carry on. Understanding this unlocks a proverbial cheat code!

When you're doing the things God has called you to do, it doesn't mean they'll be easy. His promise is that the burden will be light, and you'll find renewed passion and vigor to fulfill your God-given calling!

So, if you constantly find yourself exhausted, overextended, and irritable, pause and reflect. Are you doing the things God wants you to do, or are you trying to make God want what you're doing?

Today, take the time to lean on the people around you. Talk to those you share in koinonia with—allow them to be the ears of Jesus for you. Understand that you are a better version of who God desires for you to be when you are with others who earnestly seek Him, too. That God has called you to very specific things whether you can see it now or not. And last, but certainly not least, realizing those two things combined will allow you to do better when you are feeling low.

You can do this, just not on your own. No one needs to shoulder that kind of weight. Find community. Seek first the Kingdom of God. And remember, if no one else tells you this we promise it's true:

Jesus Loves You, Nerd.

Sobre este plano

Jesus Loves You, Nerd

Nerds sometimes face mistreatment for liking things like comic books, movies, and video games. However, we believe that everyone has unique gifts and interests, and what you love is important because it matters to you, and you matter to God. So, if no one else tells you this, we promise it's true: Jesus Loves You, Nerd.
