Love After Marriage- a Journey Into Deeper Spiritual, Emotional & Sexual OnenessExemplo
Day 2: Truth and Love
God’s truth is never intentionally misleading, neither is it cold and uncaring. We must be able to bring truth and love together. Love without God’s truth is putting human affection above God and does not represent God’s love. Similarly, truth without God’s love can be harsh and destructive and is not the way God brings His truth. God always wants to build us up in Him. Therefore, we must always endeavor to tell the truth in a loving way. Not only is this a challenge, but it is also an art that must be practiced and developed over time. Eph 4:15 tells us this, “but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ.” (NASB95) Being truthful in love is essential to our maturing and becoming Christlike. It is important to remember to be patient with others and ourselves just as God is patient with us in our processes of change. But whether the change is quick or slow, being loving and truthful will set our marriage on a course to become more and more Christlike.
Ponder & Pray: How well do I do at speaking with God’s truth and love? Do I love and accept without regard for God’s truth? Do I speak the truth without regard for God’s love for the person? If you don’t feel like you have done this well, ask the Holy Spirit to show you how to grow in this area.
