Secrets of Eden

Dia 2 de 4

The book of Genesis talks about the steps that God took in order to create everything that we see today. The sun, the stars, the ocean, and the animals are all part of the creativity of the mind of God. Everything that He created was good. Therefore, what brought about the curse on Adam and Eve if everything was perfect?

Well, to answer that question, it wasn’t so much about the fruit itself as it was about the act. Let us first examine the order of events that took place. Scripture states that Lucifer was named as the “anointed cherub”, who had every instrument of music in him. He excelled in beauty until pride was found in him. He had high aspirations to ascend to higher levels in order to surpass the counsel and dominion of God. As a result of his treachery, he was cast out of heaven. Now taking on the form of a serpent, he tries to get mankind to fall for his deceit by convincing them that they need to attain something that is beyond whatever God could give them. They followed his counsel, and like Lucifer, they were banished from the perfect environment of Eden.

The secret:

The truth is we are attracted to many things in the world that give us the feeling that it “surpasses” the counsel of God. We are human beings of ambition, and it can be difficult to resist the urge to “consume” the things that seem to satisfy the lack that we think that we have. By constantly engaging in our will, it can show that we may be struggling with pride. Somewhere, there is a voice telling you that your way is better and that you should just go ahead and do what you think is best, however, the end of that decision is usually the opposite desired result. Examine yourself and ask the Holy Spirit to thoroughly search through your intentions. If he is pointing to pride, then ask God to help you to overcome it. Be honest with yourself, and let the Lord deliver you.
