After God’s Own Heart

There are numerous examples in the Bible of people who had deep and meaningful relationships with God. King David’s relationship with God was characterised by intimacy, faith, and repentance.

From a young age, David displayed a heart that sought after God. He’s the one described above as the man after God’s own heart. David’s psalms are a testament to his intimate and personal relationship with God, where he poured out his heart, joys, sorrows, and praises. Through his songs and prayers, David expressed his dependence on God, his awe of God’s creation, and his unwavering trust in God’s faithfulness. Despite his human flaws and failures, David always turned to God in repentance. When confronted by the prophet Nathan about his sin with Bathsheba, David humbly confessed his wrongdoing and sought God’s forgiveness (2 Samuel 12). He understood the importance of repentance and the need to be in right relationship with God.

In times of trouble and danger, David relied on God’s guidance and protection. From facing the giant Goliath as a young shepherd to leading his armies into battles, David trusted in God’s strength and wisdom. Through his victories and defeats, David acknowledged that his success came from the Lord. David’s relationship with God teaches us the importance of seeking God with all our hearts, turning to Him in repentance, and relying on His strength and guidance. Let’s seek to cultivate a deep and personal relationship with God – one that shapes our lives and draws us closer to Him.

Real Hope: Relationship With God

"From the very beginning, God wanted a relationship with us. From Genesis to Revelation, we read of a God who desired to be God to His people. A relationship with Jesus is a beautiful thing. Being loved by God is like no other love. It is unconditional and pure. It is faithful and uncompromising." (God Loves You - Leila Armstrong)
