Divine Separation

Divine Separation Will Produce Effective Intercession

If we dug deep into the heart of the matter when it comes down to it; the truth is we all have love for our families and friends. At the core of us when we help them it is because we start off genuinely wanting to make a difference, but the misconception is to believe we can change them or cause them to fit into our mold of life. God didn't design their change to take place in that manner because the truth is we will take all the credit for their change. Only God can change the heart of a person, all we can do is love them while still maintaining space and avoiding clutter.

After God shared his plans for Sodom and Gomorrah with Abraham, we get to see a glimpse of what is in Abraham's heart for his nephew Lot. We see Abraham take the opportunity to pray for the city of Sodom and Gomorrah without uttering one mention of Lots name. I love he had such a beautiful relationship with God that even if he did not come outright to say his nephew's name God knew his heart toward him. And God entertains Abraham requests to petition for a city beyond repair. His love for his nephew rose to the surface even though he knew Lot had chosen a life outside of God and had made many poor choices.

Abraham petitioned God for the city based on fifty people being found righteous. I am sure Abraham knew the condition of Sodom and Gomorrah, but in his love for his nephew he was not willing to let him die without trying, and Abraham continued his petitions forty-five, thirty, twenty and then ten righteous people. His heart for Lot was evident, and this was possible because when the time to separate came, he did. Had Abraham not separated from Lot he could never intercede for him.

The city of Sodom and Gomorrah was not saved, but Abraham's intercession saved Lot and his daughters. Today I present to you; the ones you are trying to save in your own strength will only lead you to strife. But if like Abraham you would learn to refuse strife in your life God will use the divine separation to save them.

Food For Thought: Am I interceding for the people I care about or Am I still trying to save them myself?

Divine Separation

When we hear the word “separation” immediately our thoughts go to a married couple going their separate ways. However, do you know that separation extends to family, friends, or anyone dear to you? Are you aware that “separation” can also be a God-thing? In this plan, we would explore the life of Abraham and how Divine Separation had to happen for him to fulfill the plans and purposes that God had in store for him.
