What Makes God Trustworthy?Exemplo
Trust is not a Christian idea, it’s a human one. We all put our trust into something – we trust our cars to get us from Point A to Point B, our chairs to hold us up, and our friends to be there for us. The question isn’t: will I trust? The question is: who will I put my trust in?
Or in other words: Who will I entrust my life to? Who will I put my faith in?
Trust can feel fragile and scary and it makes sense to only want to give it to someone who is worthy.
Scripture makes a good case that God is the most trustworthy person you will ever encounter. Over the next five days, we’re going to look at five different aspects of God’s character to see what makes Him so trustworthy and how we can entrust every single part of our lives to Him.
God is trustworthy because He is true
We can likely think of a time someone lied to us or a time we lied to someone else. Even if it was a tiny one, a lie that seemed harmless at the time. We have all lied or stretched the truth in some capacity.
But God has never lied. He is unable to lie. It is impossible for Him to lie because He is only true. Jesus said that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. God has never uttered one word that was not totally, completely, and wholly true.
In the book of Numbers, it talks about how – because God is not like humans – He cannot lie. It goes against His entire nature to lie. God is only true.
And because God only speaks, thinks, and acts truthfully, He is trustworthy.
When someone lies to you and you find out, you feel betrayed. You don’t think you can trust them anymore. But God will never lie to you. You may not always understand His ways, but you can rest assured that He is only true. He is the Truth.
Because He is true, He is trustworthy.
Spend some time in prayer with Jesus, considering how He is the Truth and is only ever true.
