Holding on to Hope: Easter in Old Testament PoetryExemplo

Yesterday, we witnessed Christ's rejection. Today, we stand at the crossroads of history—His crucifixion, where His deepest suffering became our greatest salvation.
Isaiah 53 is about Jesus as our Suffering Servant—a poetic portrait painted roughly seven centuries before He took a human breath. As you read, feel the weight of its repeated imagery: Christ bore our griefs and carried our sorrows. They pierced Him for our transgressions and crushed Him for our iniquities.
You’ll also see the theme of sheep. As we are all like sheep gone astray, yet Jesus, who never strayed, was like a lamb led to the slaughter.
Isaiah 53 is a masterpiece of Hebrew poetry. It's considered the most prominent prophecy about our Messiah, foretelling Christ’s last day with distinct details.
- "His grave with the wicked"—He hung on the cross between two convicted criminals.
- "With a rich man in His death"—Joseph of Arimathea offered his own new tomb.
- "Oppressed and afflicted, but didn't open His mouth"—when accused by the chief priests, Jesus gave no answer.
These examples sound like firsthand accounts, but Isaiah wrote them approximately 700 years before Christ’s birth.
Coincidence collapses under the weight of such precision.
If you’re struggling with doubt today, let this prophetic poetry stir your faith.
Isaiah 53:10-12 reveals God's master plan—the Messiah would become an offering for guilt and then rise again. Because He lives, the Suffering Servant sees and is satisfied as He makes "many to be accounted righteous" by paying our debt.
God didn't improvise your rescue—He orchestrated it before time began. The One who exists outside time loves you with fierce intentionality.
Jesus knew the full cost of His mission yet moved straight toward it. From the anguish of His soul, He sees you and finds satisfaction in what His sacrifice purchased: your freedom.
Tomorrow, we'll bring God our seemingly impossible burdens and discover the strength that rises from surrender.
