I'm Afraid of Being Trapped in a Loveless Marriage
Some people grieve because the years are slipping past and they have not found a spouse. Their biological clocks are ticking and their bells are tolling. It was never their heart's dream to be single.
But being trapped in a loveless marriage is even worse, because your situation is now more or less permanent. What do you do when none of your needs is met and you feel used? What do you do when you feel like someone else's emotional punching bag? Where do you go with your resentment? How do you not feel envy at all the other happy couples?
Lord, have mercy! Lord, help us! A nice but plain woman named Leah used a trick to snare a husband in Jacob. When he realized the ruse, he didn't make her go back to her father's house, but he didn't like it much and always blamed her. "The LORD saw that Leah was not loved" (Genesis 29:31). Leah tried to please Jacob and win his love by bearing him children. The names she gave her boys are heart-wrenching signs of her desperation for her husband's approval.
Do you know anyone who feels trapped in a loveless marriage?
