Fear Not

God Will Take Care of Me in My Senior Years An elderly saint always had the same complaint when I came to visit him: "Ah, I'm no good no more." Physical pain, dim eyesight, and loneliness had ground away his sense of being worth something. He was so focused on what he didn't have that he missed the joy of using what he did have. The more we realize that we are actors in God's play, in which he provides the script and tells us the roles he needs us to play, the happier we will be. The Bible tells amazing stories of the great things that God accomplished through people in their 70s, 80s, and 90s, people like Abraham, Moses, and the apostle John. Not only will God show us how we can be useful to his agenda; he promises to help us along as our bodies grow weaker. "Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you" (Isaiah 46:4). Seniors are just as valuable to God as people of any other age. You don't have to be afraid of your final years--your God will fill them and help you home with confidence and joy. Call on him for what you need. Let him use you where he needs you.

Fear Not

What are you afraid of? God has spoken over and over again to fearful people. His angels repeatedly say, "Don’t be afraid." This reading plan contains pairs of devotions. The first devotion in a pair voices a fear that plagues many of us. The second devotion contains God's words of reassurance and comfort.
