Celebrate Mother’s Day: A Time to Honour MothersExemplo
There’s a day to celebrate almost anything. January 27th is ‘Chocolate Cake Day’, January 22nd is ‘Answer Your Cat’s Questions Day’, November 6th is ‘Nachos Day’, and August 27th is ‘International Bat Night’! Mother’s Day is celebrated at different times around the world, let’s take some time to honour our mums or other special women in our lives. Mothers have long been celebrated by different cultures throughout history and the celebration of Mother’s Day we know today, began in 1914 in America when a proclamation was signed designating a special day to honour mothers.
The Bible instructs us to honour our parents, it’s one of the 10 commandments and Paul writes about this in his letter to the church in Ephesus. In fact, he even reminds the church that this command comes with a promise.
On Mother’s Day we show our mothers that we love them by making cards, giving flowers, and even making them breakfast in bed. Every family is different and even if you don’t have a mum around there may be other women in your life that love you and help you. We can honour our grandmothers, aunties, sisters, teachers, and friends. Whoever the special women are in your life, honour them. Honour means to have high respect and great esteem. Let’s be the type of people that honour our parents and family.
