Overwhelmed by My Blessings: Encouragement for Moms Part 7

Dia 1 de 5

I can’t tell you the number of days that it was lunch time and I’d still be in a robe and gown from the night before! Particularly those days when an infant woke me early and other kids would get up.

I thought I could grab a few minutes, jump in the shower and actually get dressed. But somehow it would be noon, and here I was still in my pajamas. It was becoming bad enough that if I put on “real” clothes, my kids thought we were going somewhere. If I wore makeup, well, I must be headed to a party! I realized a change in my habits was necessary. I needed to be intentional about dressing for the day, first thing after getting out of bed.

We stay at home moms could learn a few things from you working moms. I champion your abilities to get you and your kids out the door each morning. You are amazing!

Dressing for the day is important. It sets the tone for the remainder of our day and starts us with purpose. It’s a signal to ourselves, our children, and mostly our enemy, that we are ready and prepared.

But, when we dress, are we spending more time choosing an outfit than we are at preparing our hearts?

The Word of God has much to say about what we wear each day.

We are to put on strength, mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. We are to wear forgiveness, love, and peace. We are instructed to put on a new self! We are to wear Jesus like a beautiful garment, befitting his chosen daughter!

Here’s the great news for us: His mercies are new every morning. We get a new garment each day! What girl doesn’t like new clothes? I know I do. It’s a great exchange!

Father, help me to understand that the way I begin my day sets the tone for the entire day. I choose You, your garments of praise, your Spirit, your Love to exchange for my sin, my bad moods, my fears, my agendas. May my heart and mind be ready and prepared, even more than my outward appearance, as I face today, hand in hand with you, My Strength. Let’s do this!
