Spiritual Healing

As we continue looking at different gifts of the Spirit, today we come to the gift of healing. Actually, 1 Corinthians 12 mentions the gifts of healing, meaning that there is more than one type of gift of healing. The Holy Spirit's gift of healing covers spiritual, emotional, and physical healing.

All believers experience spiritual healing beginning the moment we are born again. 1 Peter 2:24 says, "He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by His wounds, you have been healed." We are made whole, eternally saved and spiritually healed through Christ's sacrifice on the Cross.

Jesus clarified the ultimate value of spiritual healing when He sent out 70 disciples with the gift of healing. Elated by their many miraculous deeds, the disciples returned home rejoicing. Jesus put things in perspective and said, "Do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven" (Luke 10:20).

Jesus knew that spiritual healing on earth pointed to the greater reality that there is eternal healing that is far more valuable and amazing, the real reason to rejoice.

Prayer: Father, thank You that the moment I accepted You as my Lord and Savior, I experienced spiritual healing. Thank You for the promise of eternal healing. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

"It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners" (Mark 2:17).
