3 Strategies When Troubles Pile OnExemplo
STRATEGY #2
When a bunch of troubles or trials all happen at the same time, it can be overwhelming. It can be scary and exhausting. I heard one minister call it “the stacking theory.” Right? The troubles stack up, all happening at once.
When that happens, remember it’s the enemy’s goal to ramp up the pressure so you’ll throw down your faith and give up. Don’t do it! It’s a crucial time of faith – keep believing!
Think about Paul and Silas in the jail at midnight in Acts Chapter 16. They’d been doing good things for God, preaching the Gospel. Their reward was to be arrested, beaten, and chained up in the bowels of a smelly, dark, freezing cold jail, bleeding and in pain.
So what did they do? They sang praises to God. And what happened? Not only did their chains break off, but the whole prison got free!
You can do that too. You know they could have moaned, groaned and cried over their situation. But instead, they refused to throw down their faith, and they put God’s Word to work for them!
When I feel pressure and it seems like I have more troubles than I can deal with, here’s what I do: I write them all down. It feels like there are 100 things going wrong and I want to scream, but amazingly when I write them down, there are usually only 4 or 5 things – sometimes even less. We can all put on our faith on 4 or 5 troubles, right? Even if they’re big. This helps my mind from feeling overwhelmed.
After I’ve written them down, I find scriptures for each problem. For example: if one problem has to do with money, I write Philippians 4:19, Genesis 22:14, 3 John 1,2 and Romans 4:17 next to it.
Then I write a confession using those scriptures, something like, “My God is supplying every need! He is Jehovah Jireh, my provider, the God who sees ahead and provides. He wishes about ALL THINGS that I prosper and be in health, even as my soul prospers. So I call this bill paid, in Jesus’ Name!” Then I read it aloud, over and over.
This is exactly what Jesus did when the enemy tempted and tried Him in the wilderness, He always answered, “It is written.” And He won, by speaking the Word of God. It’s how you and I will win, too!
