Grace in Chaos - Biblical Hope for the Hard Days of MotherhoodExemplo
We do not mother alone. On the hard and chaotic days of mothering, there is One who helps us, and His grace is sufficient for us (2 Corinthians 12:9).
God gives us patience to love our children (a supernatural patience that is far beyond our own). He reminds us of His Word as we read the Bible and ingrain His Word in our hearts. He reminds us that our days on this earth are short in light of eternity. He pours out His sufficient grace in our lives. God’s grace is sufficient at all times.
God’s grace is sufficient for you:
- When anxiety rears its ugly head, seemingly out of nowhere
- When you lose your patience with your children, again
- When you feel like a failure as a mom
- When you fear that you’re scarring your children for life
- When giggles and family unity are the sweetest, unexpected gifts
God’s grace is sufficient in every season. We can run to the Lord for grace on the good and the hard days. We can receive His forgiveness when we fall short. We can ask God (and our children) for forgiveness when we sin, knowing that God is quick to forgive because of the blood of Jesus.
These small moments of mothering matter, because one day, Jesus is coming again. Our days are limited, and one day we will stand before the Righteous Judge and give account for every rash word or patient response. But thanks be to God that for all who trust in Jesus, every sin will be covered by the precious blood of Christ. God can help us grow in godliness as mothers—in patience, self-control, and love. God will help us finish the race of faith, and the race of motherhood, with endurance.
As you long for the appearance of Jesus, remember your main purpose in life is to worship and glorify God. He is the only One who is always with you. He is the only One who will never forsake you, who has unlimited energy, patience, wisdom, and love. In all your failings, He remains perfect. Run to Him and ask for His help as you parent. He is always with you, and He loves you.
Questions:
- Do you believe that God’s grace is sufficient for you on the hard days of mothering? Why or why not?
- Write a prayer to the Lord asking for His help as you parent.
- Spend time praying for each of your children by name. Pray for the patience and wisdom to love them well.
