What Does the Bible Say About Water Baptism?Exemplo
Jesus commands everyone to be baptized
Water baptism is one of the three steps you take to come into the fullness that God has for us. The first step is the rebirth, the second water baptism, and the third is the baptism in the Holy Spirit (see our other plans about steps 1 and 3).
Today, we’re looking at water baptism. Jesus is outspoken about this.
He says in Matthew 28:19-20:
‘Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.’
Go, make disciples, and baptize them.
Clear language.
Peter also gives the same command when the people ask him what they must do after they have heard that Jesus was the Christ, the Redeemer, the Savior. ‘Let every one of you be baptized’, he says. Then three thousand people received the Word and were immediately baptized that same day (Acts 2:37-41).
Even Jesus Himself was baptized! (Matthew 3:16-17)
So the Bible is clear about it: everyone must be baptized.
And everyone – depending on your Bible translation – in Greek, in Hebrew, in English, and in Dutch just means ‘everyone’.
We can state that water baptism is very important and very powerful. Jesus calls for it and all disciples are baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

In the Bible, you regularly see water baptism recurring. Even Jesus was submerged in water. In this plan, we investigate the meaning of water baptism, infant baptism, the timing of baptizing, and the command to baptize. So if you want to know more about baptizing, this is the plan for you!
