4 Biblical Ways to Strengthen Your FinancesExemplo
Hey Friend!
Today we’re gonna talk about the one financial move that seems like you're losing money, but often ends up making you wealthier in ways you never expected… generosity!
Paul captures this idea beautifully in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7: "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."
Proverbs 11:24-25 puts it even more paradoxically: "One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed."
Generosity has this strange effect, that no matter what you give out it seems to come back to you in unexpected ways. Not always in cash, mind you, but in joy, purpose, and sometimes opportunities you never saw coming.
Even Jesus weighed in on this, as recorded in Acts 20:35: "It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Generosity sometimes feels hard for us to do though, when we are struggling financially. We can feel as though we can’t give to others since we can hardly take care of ourselves.
But, similar to how contentment works, generosity isn't about the amount, it's about the heart behind it.
Let’s give it a try and set up what I call a "Seed account".
Let’s put in a small percentage of our incomes regularly, then, when we see a chance to help someone out, we're ready to go!
No budget stress is needed.
Now let’s think about how we can make giving a habit instead of a rare event. Get creative! Maybe it's buying a coffee for the person behind us in line once a week, or setting up a monthly donation to our favorite causes.
Generosity isn't about the size of the gift, it's about the size of our hearts.
So, today let's stretch those giving muscles, shall we?!
