Creative breath of God

To understand ‘the Holy Spirit’ you’ve got to start at the beginning in Genesis 1:2, ‘The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.’

This ‘Spirit’ is the Hebrew word ‘ruach’ (“ru-akh”) generally meaning wind, breath, mind, spirit and, when applied to God, ruach indicates creative activity (Genesis 1:2) and active power, the very presence, energy, and spirit of God Himself.

‘The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life [which inspires me]’ (Job 33:4 AMP). Through Genesis and Job, we see this Holy Spirit as a creative power both in nature and in us. This creative breath of God is available to us every day. Invite the Holy Spirit into your day and ask Him to help inspire your creative energy as you approach situations, circumstances, or people that challenge you.

‘The Spirit of God was moving (hovering, brooding) over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. God saw that the light was good (pleasing, useful) and He affirmed and sustained it.' (Genesis 1:2b–4a AMP)
