Five Reasons Why God TarriesExemplo
Waiting displays your level of faith…
The Amplified Classic Bible writes Isaiah 30:15 as follows: For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: In returning [to Me] and resting [in Me] you shall be saved; in quietness and in [trusting] confidence shall be your strength. But you would not…
As a young believer I was given a small box containing 100 Bible verses printed on small pieces of cardboard as a gift. What a treasure it was! I remember that whenever I needed to know what God was saying to me, I would reach into the small box and pull out a Bible verse card to see if God was telling me something! In His great kindness He often spoke to me through those verses. But then it stopped. I could no longer 'hear His voice' in this way! An older person who cared for me, explained that the Lord wanted me to grow into a new place of maturity in Him. How grateful I am today for that person's advice!
Perhaps you are in that place right now. Be encouraged. Something happens when you pause for long enough to hear God's voice. It shows Him the love in your heart towards Him when you pause, when you sit down and focus on Him in the quiet of the morning or the evening. In that place - even if He does not 'speak' – you will find strength again. You will find faith again. You will find mercy and justice in Him again.
Think of someone waiting at a bus stop or train station. They are at peace because they trust the bus or train is coming no matter the current time. When we wait on God, it must be in such a posture. You MUST HAVE AN EXPECTANCY that He will come to you. Derek Prince once said, "If you are not prepared to give God time, you cannot expect to hear from God. God wants the kind of open-ended time that says; 'I'm here until I hear from You, no matter how long it takes.'"
BE HONEST...
>> Is it possible that you keep expecting God to speak to you in the same way as before?
>> How much time do you REALLY dedicate to quieting your heart before Him? Waiting on Him? How often do you do it? Only when you need an answer or as a lifestyle?
>> Ask the Holy Spirit to cultivate in you a heart that loves waiting on the Lord – until He comes and answers you.
>> Write this verse in your journal and pray it today:
Psalm 27:14 - Wait on the LORD; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD!
