Daily Nuggets of Grace Part 3 Innocent!Exemplo
Free from Condemnation!
Jesus took our guilt upon Himself, so God considers us holy and acceptable. Our new identity means that we are free forever from condemnation. God said so! Even when we sin again, His blood has already washed it away. Since He sees us as the new creatures we are, we get to see ourselves that way, too.
Think about this: if you travel north, when do you start heading south? At the North Pole, of course! But if you take off going east, when do you start heading west? Never! God chose to throw our sins as far as the East is from the West to emphasize that it is a permanently done deal. He does not hold them over our heads as a reminder. With an all-mighty arm, He threw our sins far, far away. The garbage truck picked up that trash and disappeared over the horizon, never to return. God won’t go looking for it again, and neither should you.
Child of the Living King, God forgives you! Your new identity is Forgiven. How does that make you feel?
If you think about it, forgiveness is scandalous because we’re let off the hook, totally free, but it’s true! When Jesus died, He paid it all, wiping away all residue of guilt and any shadow of condemnation.
"Why do I feel guilty then?" Contrary to what many people think, feelings are not always based on truth. They are actually based on how we view ourselves and our situation.
Feelings can be based on wrong ways of thinking which then lead us completely off course.
The enemy uses thoughts of condemnation to beat us up, and we wrongly think it is the voice of God. Then we chime in with more condemnation, either with self-blame or excuses, instead of listening to God's voice of grace.
Later in the week, we will see how to overcome sin patterns, but doing that starts with remembering grace. If you continually feel guilty and condemned, recognize that you are not listening to God's voice. He’s made it clear that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
“Shouldn’t I remind myself of my sins to remain humble?” I used to think so, but no more! We will look at that tomorrow. Today, let’s focus on the truth - in Christ we are free from condemnation.
Reflect and Respond
God's Word is rock solid truth; feelings can lie. Do you see yourself the same way God sees you through the lens of the cross, free forever from condemnation?
Pray
God, I accept Your grace and resist condemnation. Thank you for washing me clean and declaring me innocent.
