THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE WORLD AND THE CHURCH

• JESUS speaks to the disciples about the end of His mission on earth and the importance of His return to the Father, wherefrom He will send the HOLY SPIRIT.

• Although the HOLY SPIRIT will be sent to the disciples to take JESUS’ place, He will also have a purpose in the world.

• The disciples need daily guidance and revelation to learn to live the life of the KINGDOM OF GOD in this world.

Once again, JESUS makes the disciples understand that it is necessary for Him to return to heaven and that the HOLY SPIRIT be sent in His place. At the same time, He wanted to assure them that they would not be left alone in this unfair struggle with the devil. JESUS’ mission was completed on earth, and it was time for the HOLY SPIRIT to come and help all Christians simultaneously everywhere in the world. Although JESUS gives a negative „advisory” to the church at this time, saying that the church will go through inevitable persecutions, the church CHRIST established not only survived but grew exponentially in these past two thousand years. Surely, we must not confuse the Church of Christ with our various assemblies, which we sometimes pity, as we see little chance of an awakening. The Church of Christ comprises all who are Born Again and have kept their faith, from the early Christians to the Second Coming of JESUS.
JESUS also says that the HOLY SPIRIT will also assume a mission concerning the world: convincing the world that it’s guilty in God’s eyes. Our mission is not to convince people that they are guilty in God’s eyes. That is the mission embraced by the HOLY SPIRIT. Our job is to tell people about God’s will, His love, and the good news of salvation through grace. Christianity is weakened today because the involvement of the HOLY SPIRIT has come to be minimal, often replaced with our human skills or with dogmatic theories. But those who involve the HOLY SPIRIT in their daily lives experience victory over sin, and Christian life is enriched with certainty and joy, regardless of the daily circumstances.
