Wives Boot CampExemplo
Day 5: Avoiding Contention
**Reflection:**
Contention is a dangerous enemy in marriage. Proverbs 21:9 and 19:13 provide sobering reminders of the negative impact a quarrelsome wife can have on her household. Being contentious leads to strife, division, and an unhappy home.
James 1:19 offers wisdom on how to avoid contention: be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry. As a wife, it’s important to cultivate a spirit of peace and understanding in your marriage. This means choosing your words carefully, listening empathetically, and controlling your temper.
Avoiding contention doesn’t mean avoiding difficult conversations but approaching them with a heart of reconciliation and peace. When disagreements arise, seek to resolve them with love and respect, rather than allowing anger or pride to take over.
Today, ask God to help you cultivate a spirit of peace in your marriage. Commit to being a wife who builds up rather than tears down, who brings harmony rather than discord.
**Prayer:**
Father, help me to be a wife who brings peace and not contention into my home. Teach me to listen more, speak less, and control my anger. May my words and actions reflect Your love and grace and strengthen my marriage through peace and understanding. Amen.
