Entrusted With Much: The Joy of Living Generously

If I Lost it All, is Jesus Still Enough?

Wealth can be a blessing, but it can also lead us to rely more on ourselves and less on God. The danger with abundance is that it can cause spiritual poverty if we start trusting in money rather than in God. Money is meant to be a tool, but when it becomes an idol, it pulls us away from God. Generosity and gratitude keep our hearts grounded in him, ensuring we don’t drift toward self-reliance.

Imagine losing everything – your job, home, possessions, and savings. It’s a scary thought. But what remains when it’s all gone? Your salvation, your relationship with Jesus, and the eternal treasures you’ve stored in heaven. Would that be enough for you? The truth is, Jesus should be our ultimate treasure. If we can say, “Yes, Jesus is enough,” even when everything else fades, then our hearts are where they need to be.

God calls us to hold loosely to material things and tightly to him. True joy and peace come not from wealth but from knowing that he is always enough—whether we have plenty or nothing at all.

Reflect: What areas of my life am I holding onto too tightly, and how can I learn to trust in Jesus as my ultimate source of security?
