IN CHRIST

Vulnerable? Yes. Defenseless? No!

Despite what our thoughts, the appearance of our circumstances, or our feelings might be telling us, we have not been left alone. When we are in Christ, we are IN Him!

He promises that He will never leave us or forsake us. In Psalm 63:6-7, David writes about the Lord's faithfulness. At the time David is writing these words, he is most likely in the wilderness of Judah, fleeing from his wicked son, Absalom. What is David's focus? Is he wrestling with a myriad of escape scenarios, fretting, or pacing? No, David is focusing his thoughts and his heart on his God. He remembers Him and how He has been his help.

Even as he faced Goliath as a young boy, David's pattern was to remember the Lord's faithfulness to him. Read 1 Samuel 17:34-37.

David shelters himself in the rich memories of the Lord's past provision and protection and strengthens himself with songs of joy. He knows God is sovereign, he believes that God is in control, and he acts on that belief, despite what he may be feeling. In other words, David walked in faith.

Charles Spurgeon, the author of the Christian classic "Morning and Evening," gives us an interesting perspective: "Christian, take good care of your faith - faith is the only way whereby you can obtain blessings. If we want blessings from God, nothing can fetch them down but faith."

Although you say that you know Him, do you know Him intimately? Are you pursuing after Him fervently and diligently? Is He your solitary pursuit? Is He your hiding place? Do you run to Him for protection? Will you be ready when the attack comes your way?

Where do you go when you need help? Where do you run when you are afraid?

Read Psalm 27:1-6. In the midst of difficulty, David makes a resolution. What does he seek in verse 4? What enables him to do this in verse 5? How can you have this same confidence?

Choose one Scripture from today that the Lord is using to renew your mind and transform your heart. Take this truth to heart and bring it to life throughout your day.
