Your Place In The Body Of Christ

What part of your body would it be most difficult to live without? That is a very tough question and there isn’t really a good answer. The truth is that every part of your body serves a special purpose that cannot be fully met by any other part.

Paul says in 1 Corinthians 12, “For in fact the body is not one member but many … If the foot should say, ‘Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,’ is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear should say, ‘Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,’ is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling … Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.”

As a member of the body of Christ you are an important part of the living, breathing organism that is the Church! No matter what part you are within the body of Christ, the fact is that God gifted you specifically for that purpose.

Romans 12:6 says, “Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them….” God gave you spiritual gifts that help determine your special purpose in the body of Christ. Maybe you are a teacher, a prophet, an encourager, or a pray warrior. Whatever your gifts, you are a member of the body of Christ, and the rest of the body needs you.

Prayer for the day:

Today, ask God to show you your spiritual gifts. And pray for the strength to use your gifts for the good of the body of Christ.

Kong Hee: The Bond Of Unity

Part of God's plan is to place us within a family of believers known as the Body of Christ. While we may not always agree with one another, it is important to maintain the bond of peace through the Spirit of unity. Reflect on the attitudes of your heart when it comes to disagreements, and learn how to love sacrificially as Christ did!
