ID - Your Destiny RevealedExemplo
Make Peace with Your Past
A past is something all of us have: some people try to hold on to the past; others try to forget about it, deny it, or run away from it. Memories of good past experiences fill us with joy and hope. But, it’s the bad past experiences that seem to hinder us from moving forward or become shackles that immobilize us.
The dreams we once had or the goals we set become shattered by the different events that take place in our lives. We give up on them or they seem to always be just out of our reach. Our relatives, teachers, friends, or mentors can encourage us or discourage us. Our different experiences can leave us stronger or scarred and hesitant to try new things.
We have to choose to allow healing into the places we’ve been wounded, breaking the power of our past. Today, you’ll use 4R’s – Reveal, Release, Rewrite, Remember.
- Ask the Lord to reveal a past experience or painful memory that needs healing.
- Release / forgive the person who hurt you, release the situation to the Lord.
- Rewrite it. Ask the Lord what He says about that experience, what words He has for your life. If someone wounded you with words, what words would the Lord put in place of those words?
- Remember scripture of who you are in Christ. Child of God; Member of the body of Christ; Free from condemnation; I am created in the image of God; I am God’s workmanship.
