Fire on the Mountain
It’s the big day. King Ahab and the people who worship Baal have climbed up the mountain. Elijah – the only one who still worships God – has climbed up the mountain. What happens today will decide the future for all of them!
The people have built a pile of wood for Baal. Elijah challenges the people to pray to their god to set the wood on fire. They pray to Baal, but Baal is only a statue. They pray harder and shout louder, but nothing happens. There is no fire.
Then Elijah puts stones together and places the wood and meat on top. He digs a ditch around it and then pours lots of water over it so that it all gets wet and there is water in the ditch.
Elijah prays to God.
