What Are You Called To?

DAY 1 OF 7

Called to Reconcile

Thanksgiving Day can be painful. I’m not talking about pain from pants that don’t stretch enough.

Family relationships tend to go through the wringer on that night. I remember a specific Thanksgiving that ended for me with family members storming out when the topic of religion came up. I felt so guilty and saddened by broken relationship. So much regret by words that weren’t chosen carefully. It felt like nothing could fix it.

Few things in life can feel as hopeless as broken relationship.

In 2 Corinthians, Paul says that we have been given the “ministry of reconciliation.” He reminds us that Jesus conquered the greatest broken relationship in history when he reconciled us to himself. We who were far off and enemies of God, were brought into right relationship when reconciliation looked impossible.

A major part of our calling is to walk in humility and forgiveness toward those around us. It enables us to carry the reconciliation that Jesus is calling us to carry with us everywhere we go.

You are called to reconcile.

Action: Pray that God would show you the reconciliation that needs to take place in your life. Maybe it’s a family member, a friend or a coworker. What small thing can you do today to move toward reconciliation?

About this Plan

What Are You Called To?

As humans, we have the uncanny ability to make the easy, difficult. One of the things we tend to make so mystical and complicated is this thing we refer to as “calling.” But the Bible gives us many places to start when we don't know what to do. It’s not a calling based on new trends or our vocation. God’s calling is for today. Right now. Let’s dive in!
