Stranger Things - Unseen Is Not UnrealSample
“It comes as a shock to the new believer that the Christian life is a battleground and not a playground.” -Warren Wiersbe
When we think of going to battle, images of William Wallace from the 1995 movie, Braveheart, come to mind. Or we may think of a loved one in the military, picking up their weapon to face an enemy.
It’s a common perception that the war we wage in our lives is simply a physical one, and not necessarily spiritual. This thought is the opposite of what many of the writers in the Bible talk about. In the name of reason, we cannot diminish and deny the spiritual realm – that’s a dangerous way to think.
The Christian life is not an easy life. It’s one where we are called to take up God’s mighty weapons, and obliterate spiritual strongholds around us and within us. It’s a real war – one with a real enemy.
Strongholds can dominate our minds, thoughts and actions. Strongholds of pride, self-reliance, bitterness, control, fear, sexual impurity, jealousy.
But the Good News is, even though a war is still being waged around us, because of Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection from the grave, we have the victory.
What stronghold are you fighting?

About this Plan
What’s really out there? While a biblical faith in Jesus is reasonable and pragmatic in many ways, it includes a spiritual realm, as well. During this 13-day plan, we hope to become more comfortable and familiar with some of Christianity’s unseen realities.
