Thoughts on the message

Pilate is not able to take the pressure. He is not incompetent. He is facing a spiritual situation with only physical tools. That is always a disaster in the making. He knows Jesus is innocent, his wife tells him as well – yet he cannot do what is the right thing. When he finds the people willing to take the blame for this terrible decision, he jumps at the chance.

How do we avoid these situations?

Understand when the situations are spiritual in nature; That takes God’s wisdom. So pray and seek His help. Also, do not be in a rush to move forward – wait on God. It is amazing how He can wait until it is the moment before He gives the direction that we need. He will make clear what is to be done. He will also give the direction, the resources and the peace we need in troubled times.

Prayer

Father, today I am not facing a challenging situation, but I know some of my friends are. I pray for them. Give them a heart to wait on You. Give them strength and direction. Give them Your peace as You reveal how to move forward today. Above all, give all of us an understanding that we MUST have You in our decisions or we screw up just like Pilate did. We are not dumb people, it is just that all of us will fail if we rely on our human wisdom and strength to deal with spiritual issues. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
