Growing Your Heart For MissionsSample

God’s Word is powerful
I’ve been a missionary all my life—so believe me when I tell you I’ve seen it ALL. I have had my heart ripped out of my chest encountering children who have been abused, abandoned, trapped in poverty, starving, being trafficked or forced to serve as child soldiers.
And while many—especially in this day of social justice—would think that food, education or safety would drastically change the lives of these young people, there’s only one thing powerful enough to radically alter a destiny, not just modify current circumstances.
Presenting people with the Gospel message and giving them a chance to accept and believe in Jesus is the only “thing” we can give them introducing them to the One who can truly transform lives.
Ultimately, justice only comes through Jesus. Until we provide a remedy for the root cause of anyone’s problems, we will only be providing temporary aid. And that remedy comes in the form of God’s powerful Word.
If our ultimate desire is to compassionately meet people’s needs fully and forever, the only way it can happen is through believing and accepting the Truth found in the Bible.
God has given us a powerful weapon to fight injustice. And He’s charged us to use and share it! Go forth in the power of His Word today!
God, I pray that no matter how busy we are, we make it a priority to spend time in your precious Word. Like Moses, we ask you to look favorably on us so that we can know your ways and understand you more fully. When our hearts are broken for those around us, may we rest in the balm of your promises, knowing every word of your holy Scriptures are true. And as we encounter those who are lost or hopeless today, may we point them to the only source that satisfies—to your powerful Word. Amen.
