5 Things You Can Count On From GodSample
#1 - He Will Never Let You Go
No matter what troubles, disappointments or heartaches have come your way, you need to know that God will never leave you or forsake you.
In my first book “Why God Why?” I tell the story of how my first husband died suddenly at age 37. I’ve learned first-hand that God will never leave us or forsake us in times of trouble – I counted on Him and whatever’s going on in your life, so can you!
Hebrews 13:5b says: “He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]” (AMP).
Whenever I read that I picture a father teaching his little daughter how to swim. I see the dad in the water holding out his arms to his little girl, who’s looking down at him, nervous about jumping in.
The dad says, “Go ahead and jump, honey. I’ll catch you. I won’t let go.”
And full of faith that her daddy will catch her, she jumps in and is scooped up by strong arms. “I gotcha, honey, you’re safe,” her father says. He won’t let go of her or relax his hold on her. Assuredly not!
That’s how your heavenly Father is—He won’t let go of you or relax His hold on you. Assuredly not! He’s got you; you’re safe, no matter how deep the water is.
How can you be sure? By thinking on this truth. By meditating on it day and night, as the Bible instructs us to do (Joshua 1:8).
Because you are the CEO of your thoughts. You are in charge of what to think on. You can take control of your thoughts by focusing on the promises in God’s Word.
Start by reflecting on Hebrews 13:5. Don’t just read it once and think, “Well, that would be nice.” Instead, run it over in your mind again and again. Read it out loud. Picture yourself being held in God’s strong arms. Hear Him saying this verse to you and telling you what it means.
Meditating on the Word is the secret to tapping into God’s freedom and power. It’s the secret to putting the past behind and moving on with Him.
