Challenge Accepted: SacrificeSample

Ultimately, Jesus’ call to sacrifice is not just a mental exercise or a challenge He puts forth arbitrarily. Jesus modeled this life of self-sacrifice every single day! He is the ultimate leader in never calling us to do something that He was not willing to do Himself. This lifestyle of holding absolutely everything with an open hand - willing and ready to lay it down for Jesus whenever He may ask – is a constant pursuit. But if we will respond in obedience even one time, we will see the amazing boost in spiritual growth that comes as a result. That will drive us toward a willingness to do it the next time…and the time after that…until this becomes the lifestyle we lead naturally. It can be a long road to travel, but it absolutely leads to the rich and fulfilling life that Jesus came to offer us in the first place.
As you read today, ask yourself these two questions:
- What verse stood out to me the most?
- What can I do with that in my life today?
About this Plan

Jesus Himself told us again and again that a life lived for Him will have challenges, and that we will be called to willingly sacrifice. But could it be that these sacrifices are not arbitrary tests, but are actually one of the quickest ways God designed for us to grow in our faith? This week-long plan will explore what Scripture has to say about sacrifice.
